Full Empty Fuel Policy

Avoiding the Full / Empty Car Hire Fuel Policy

It is worth bearing in mind that although there is a great dislike of the mandatory car hire fuel policy adopted by many of the Spanish Rental Car suppliers, there are some advantages to this policy and by researching in advance all your options you can make a much better informed decision.

For example:-
Hiring at an airport will give you a wider choice of vehicle, much lower rental rates, and longer opening hours.  However all are likely to come with the Full out and Empty return car hire fuel policy. If you choose from a larger vehicle group, then you will obtain the full out full return but your daily rental rate will be higher.

If you can rent from a downtown / city location, for example a train station then more often than not all the vehicles are supplied on a full / full fuel basis, but the daily rental rate for all the vehicle groups will be higher than an airport.

TIPS  (1) Choose a city location whenever possible (2) Click on the "rate details" link next to the car of your choice to view the specific car hire fuel policy for that vehicle  (3) Compare the same terms and conditions on larger vehicles. (4) take into consideration what else is being offered in the price, for example zero excess insurance, free extra driver.

Most websites do display the car hire fuel policy, but not necessarily in a very obvious way, so make sure you search for the terms and conditions of the actual car you are considering.
